Murder charges were laid against the 15 year-old and 13 year-old following the death of Norman Kingi on 29 July.

Police earlier said it appeared the 54-year-old had disturbed a group of young people breaking into a vehicle and suffered a fatal wound during an altercation.

At the High Court in Hamilton this morning, Justice Sarah Katz agreed to continue name suppression.

Both girls were remanded in the custody of the Ministry for Vulnerable Children.

They will next appear in court on 30 August for electronic bail applications.
