A popular Queenstown walking track has closed after a large slip on the side of the Shotover River this afternoon.
Queenstown Lakes District Council has advised that the Moonlight Track will be closed until the Department of Conservation can assess the slip, which is located near the Shotover Canyon Swing.
Signage is being put in place at the entrances to the track in Arthur's Point, on Moke Lake Road just beyond Moke Lake itself, and at the top of the Skyline gondola.
Due to a slip along Shotover River adjacent to the Shotover Canyon Swing, the Department of Conservation is closing Moonlight Track until the slip site can be assessed.
