Emergency services are attending a serious crash north of Auckland, involving multiple vehicles.
Police received a report of the incident on Matakana Road in Warkworth about 9am.
St John said a person was taken to Auckland Hospital in a serious condition.
Part of Matakana Road, between Sandspit Road and Sharp Road, is currently closed and is expected to be closed for some time.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
