Man shot by Invercargill police appears in court

A man who was shot by police in Invercargill is facing a number of charges following the incident on Saturday.

The 45-year-old man appeared in Invercargill District Court yesterday by audio-visual link.

Police say he is charged with assault with intent to rob, intentional damage, possession of an offensive weapon, reckless driving, and driving while disqualified.

He remains in a stable condition and has been remanded in custody.

He is next due to appear on 28 March.

Police are still wanting to speak to people who were in a black people mover which was travelling south towards Invercargill and was stopped near the incident.
