The 17-year-old youth is facing charges relating to the death of a man and injuries to two others during an incident in an Auckland carpark.
Three people with serious stab wounds and one with a serious gunshot wound arrived at Middlemore Hospital at about 4.30am on 13 November.
A 26-year-old who had been stabbed died the same day.
"The deceased man was laid to rest today by his grieving family and they have been advised of the arrest," Detective Inspector Tofilau Fa'amanuia Va'aelua of Counties Manukau CIB said.
The youth will also face two charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, relating to two other victims from the same incident, when he appears in the Manukau Youth Court tomorrow.
Detective Inspector Va'aelua said the inquiry team had undertaken hours of video analysis and witness interviews to establish the actions of those involved.
"The arrest today is a step in the right direction for the victim's family and the investigation team.
"At this stage, police are not ruling out further arrests," he said.
Police were still appealing for anyone with information or mobile phone videos from the night to get in touch.
