Three teenagers, aged 13,14 and 15, have been arrested after fleeing from police in west Auckland early on Tuesday morning.

The police Eagle helicopter spotted a vehicle with a broken quarter light on Solar Road, Glen Eden just after 3.30am.

The vehicle failed to stop for police on West Coast Road and fled at speed before being abandoned nearby, Senior Sergeant Damian Albert said.

"Police did not pursue and almost immediately the vehicle was abandoned on Sunvue Road."

Three people left the vehicle and ran through nearby properties, Albert said.

"All three were very quickly taken into custody without incident."

A14-year-old was due to appear in Waitākere Youth Court on Tuesday charged with stealing a vehicle, unlawfully interfering with a vehicle, and failing to stop.

A 13-year-old and 15-year-old have been referred to youth aid services.
