Shot fired at police car

Police confirm that a patrol car was shot at after a robbery in the Bay of Plenty town Edgecumbe on Sunday.

The incident happened near the Shell service station at Riverslea Mall. A shot fired from a vehicle being pursued by police hit the front of the police car. The officer driving the car was not hurt.

The car was abandoned near the Rangitaiki River and the police are now interviewing three men.

Detective Sergeant Ross Everest says a significant amount of money was taken in the robbery.
