A fourth person has died after a crash in South Canterbury in August.
The serious crash on State Highway 79 on 21 August involved a four-wheel drive and a people-mover.
At the time of the crash, police said the driver, and sole occupant, of the four-wheel drive was seriously injured.
Three people from the people mover were killed, and another was seriously injured.
Both the injured were transported to Christchurch Hospital.
On Tuesday, Aoraki Area Commander Inspector Vicki Walker said the fourth person from the people mover died in hospital on Monday.
They had been in hospital since the crash.
"Our thoughts are with their family and loved ones, and all those who have been impacted by this tragic crash."
Police were continuing to investigate the crash, she said.
