One person has died in a crash west of Wairoa in northern Hawke's Bay.
A section of State Highway 2 was blocked after the the single vehicle crash that happened at around 11.15am.
Four other people in the car were injured and transported to hospital, police said.
One lane of the road has now re-opened and traffic management is in place.
