An Australia-based refugee advocate says security has been increased at Australia's asylum seeker detention centre on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea, as hunger strikes enter their 14th day.
Ian Rintoul, of the Refugee Action Coalition, says more guards employed by Wilson Security arrived on Manus yesterday.
Mr Rintoul has also claimed that a Sudanese asylum seeker was abused by guards when he was sprayed in the eyes with chemical spray and tied to a bed in an isolated room for three days before being returned to his compound.

Meanwhile, 15 of the 58 asylum seekers who were taken to Lorengau prison last week when guards ended a blockade have been returned to the detention centre.
Mr Rintoul says the rest remain in Lorengau prison, although media reports have suggested that some could be transferred to the maximum security Bomana prison in Port Moresby.
