A teenager has been arrested after smashing crosses in an Anzac tribute at a Hamilton school.

Police said the intoxicated 17-year-old attacked the crosses, laid in front of Berkley Intermediate School, at about 3.00am.
Students at the school had made the crosses and learned about the soldiers named on them during the past few weeks.
Police said they had identified the teenager from the school's security camera footage.
