Most of the 27 Kapiti Coast families who had to leave their homes during last week's floods have now returned to their properties.
District mayor, Ross Church, said a few owners were still cleaning up or waiting for electrical and wiring checks.

Last Thursday's torrential rains delivered the region almost twice the area's average May rainfall in just one day.
But Mr Church said you would not know it now.
"There's still a little bit of debris, if you look in the worst places, but generally speaking, if somebody came up here now, and looked around, they would think, yep, normal - nothing to see."
He said council staff and contractors worked over most of the weekend, checking infrastructure, cleaning debris and filing in sinkholes.
