Christchurch's infrastructure rebuild team is investigating what caused a water main to burst in a seaside suburb.
Roads and some homes in the area were flooded when the pipe burst on Main Road in Redcliffs today.
The suburb suffered major damage in the Canterbury earthquakes and crews were on site repairing the road surface when the water main burst.
The Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team said workers asked the emergency services and city council to shut off the water supply and provide assistance.
Homeowners are being offered help to clean their properties.
