Sixty jobs are expected to be cut at the Christchurch City Council as part of a planned restructure.

The proposed changes are aimed at making the Council more responsive to the needs of the rebuild and community.
Under the plan, 175 roles would be dis-established and 115 new roles created.
Council chief executive Dr Karleen Edwards said the Council needed to make sure it had the right people doing the right jobs to deliver the best outcomes.
She said if the changes were adopted, duplication would be reduced by bringing similar services together and staff would have more power to make decisions.
Consultation with staff closes on 10 September, with a decision on the proposal expected by the end of October.
