Police are looking for two men who tried to entice a 12-year-old girl into their car on her way to school in Hawke's Bay.
The Havelock North student was walking along Te Mata Road yesterday when a white, four-door, rusty, older car pulled up beside her.
Detective Jeff Foley said the men continued driving beside her even as she said no and ran from them.
Police said the driver was Maori and about 18 years old. He was wearing a red basketball style singlet with black numbering, a black hooded sweatshirt and a plain black cap.
Mr Foley said while the men appeared to have viewed their unwanted approach to the girl as humorous, it was anything but.
He said the victim was extremely upset and frightened.
