A body that has been found on Waiheke Island has been there for some time, according to Auckland police.

It was found near a bush walk by a member of the public, near Ocean View Road this afternoon.
The body is being kept at the scene tonight, and there will be a post mortem tomorrow morning.
But police said it will take a number of hours to formally identify the body, because of the length of time it had been there.
