Four children have been taken away from a Hawke's Bay house after concerns a meth lab had been operating in the home.

Child, Youth and Family workers visited the Elliott St property in Taradale this week, and became sick hours later, prompting police to investigate.
Officers searched the house last night and found what police said were are a number of items of interest.
The Fire Service was called to decontaminate police officers and the occupants of the home. The children were removed by police and social services and two people have been arrested.
