The decomposing body of an elderly man has been found in a Housing New Zealand flat in central Wellington.
Neighbours in the Dixon Street block of flats alerted the police, who said they were trying to formally identify the man.
The death was not thought to be suspicious, and a post-mortem would be done tomorrow.
Housing New Zealand area manager Alice Daniel Kirk said the department would be in touch with other tenants to check whether they needed support.
It was the second discovery of a decomposing body in a Wellington flat this year after the body of a 78-year-old man, believed to have died in January, was found in March.
