The Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team (SCIRT) has won an award for its restoration of Christchurch's Bridge of Remembrance.

The bridge and its arch which were built in 1924 to commemorate those who died in World War I and subsequent conflicts.
The bridge suffered significant damage in the February 2011 earthquake.
SCIRT was this week awarded the Public Realm - Saved and Restored Award at the Canterbury Heritage Awards for its restoration of the bridge.

With a $6.7 million repair bill, the work took two and half years to complete, the bridge was opened in time for Anzac Day this year.
Company executive general manager Ian Campbell said he was very proud of all the work the designers and delivery team put into the technically challenging project.
"Most work we do is fixing buried pipes and roads but every now and then we get to fix something special like the bridge," he said.
