Two people were taken to hospital early this morning following a house fire north of Wellington.
The Fire Service was called to the two-storey home in the Lower Hutt suburb of Kelson at about 1.30am and found it well ablaze.
A spokesman said it took until 3am to get the fire under control.
An ambulance took two people suffering from smoke inhalation to hospital.
Firefighters have been monitoring the house this morning, and fire investigators are to visit today to try to find the cause of the blaze.
