Michael and Susie Woodward have won the Share Farmer of the Year competition at the Canterbury dairy industry awards this week.
The couple are 50 percent sharemilking a thousand cows in Dunsandle and walked away from the awards with more than $17,000 in prizes.
First time competitor Hamish Kilpatrick took home the Dairy Manager of the Year award and nearly $10,000 in prizes.
The 23-year-old is managing 370 cows in Culverden and in the coming season is progressing up to contract milking.
Mr Kilpatrick says he is passionate about operating a low cost, low input, high production farming system and wants to focus on pasture management.
