Reading and QPR doomed to relegation

6:09 am on 22 April 2013

Reading and Queens Park Rangers look doomed to relegation from the English Premier football League after both suffered defeats on Sunday.

Bottom side Reading were beaten 2-1 at Norwich while QPR, second-bottom on goal difference, lost 2-0 at home to Stoke, who earned themselves a crucial win.

With four games to go, both teams are 10 points from safety and need something close to a miracle to avoid the drop.

Wigan remained third-bottom after a 2-0 defeat at West Ham, leaving them still three points behind Aston Villa, who play leaders Manchester United on Tuesday morning.

Sunderland moved level with Stoke, six points above the relegation zone, thanks to a 1-nil win over sixth-placed Everton.

Arsenal moved up to third place with a 1-0 win at Fulham, Newcastle slipped below Stoke and Sunderland on goal difference after a 1-0 draw at West Brom while Swansea and Southampton played out a scoreless draw in the day's other match.
