Little competition for All Black hookers

6:40 pm on 14 May 2013

The All Blacks will be forced to stick with their incumbent hookers, with a lack of quality young players available.

The ageing veterans Andrew Hore and Keven Mealamu are the hookers selected for the upcoming All Blacks training camps along with 26-year-old Dane Coles.

All three players have spent periods on the sidelines during the Super Rugby season either through injury or being rested.

The All Blacks coach, Steve Hansen, says they have to work with the players they've got.

He says unconcerned by the apparent lack of form of some leading All Blacks in the Super rugby competition saying it's unreasonable to expect them to play at their best throughout the year.

The first training camp is in Mt Maunganui this weekend.
