New Zealand has missed out on a Commonwealth Games rugby sevens men's final for the first time in 24 years, beaten 19-14 by Fiji in the semi-finals in Birmingham.
Two late yellow cards, to Leroy Carter and Akuila Rokolisoa, cost the All Blacks Sevens dearly.
Quickfire tries to Ngarohi McGarvey-Black and Regan Ware late in the first half gave the New Zealanders a 14-0 lead before Fiji reduced the advantage through Filipe Sauturaga right on the half-time hooter.
Fiji then equalised with three minutes in the second half remaining, leaving New Zealand on the back foot when Carter and Rokolisoa were sin-binned. The numerical advantage proved too much in extra time, Waisea Nacuqu scoring the winning try for Fiji after just 30 seconds.
New Zealand play Australia for bronze, while Fiji meet South Africa in the gold medal match.
