The Football Ferns will round out their highest-profile year with two internationals against Colombia in Bogota next month.

Head coach Jitka Klimkova's 22nd-ranked side will face the 26th-ranked South Americans on December 3 (NZT) and then again three days later.

Klimkova said the games provided a stern test for her side as well as a chance to implement some of the lessons learned this year - including from their World Cup campaign on home soil in which they narrowly failed to advance from their group.

"After a period of reflection and opportunities to learn from the past cycle, we now need to focus on the future and building a team to look forward to the Olympic qualifiers next year and ultimately the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027," she said.

"Colombia are a strong team with some outstanding individuals, who had a great FIFA Women's World Cup (quarter-final exit), so they will be a really good challenge for us, which is exactly what we want."

The Football Ferns last played Colombia at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, winning 1-0 courtesy of an Amber Hearn goal.
