New Zealand fills minor placings at Dubai Sevens

The Black Ferns Sevens have finished second and the All Black Sevens third at the opening round of the World Series in Dubai.

The women were beaten 26-19 by Australia in their final, while the men beat Fiji 17-12 in the third place play-off.

South Africa beat Argentina 12-7 in the men's final.

It was the Australian women's fourth straight Dubai title while their victory ended New Zealand's 41-match winning streak.

Kelly Brazier became the third Black Fern to score 100 tries, touching down in their 26-14 quarter-final win over Brazil.

The Ferns beat Canada 21-19 in the semi-finals and the All Blacks lost 21-19 to Argentina.

The second round is in Cape Town next weekend.
