New Zealand's Erin Routliffe and her Canadian doubles partner Gabby Dabrowski have a shot at a second taste of Grand Slam tennis glory after powering into the final at Wimbledon.

Routliffe and Gabby Dabrowski outclassed American pairing Caroline Dolehide and Desirae Krawczyk 6-4 6-3 leaving them on the verge of matching their US Open triumph last year in New York.

The result also guarantees Routliffe will claim the No.1 world ranking when the WTA updates its ratings next week - the first Kiwi to hold that status in any class since men's singles great Anthony Wilding more than 90 years ago.

Routliffe, 29, and Dabrowski are seeded second at Wimbledon and in ominous form heading into the final against American Taylor Townsend and Czech player Katerina Siniakova, who are seeded seventh.

They achieved four service breaks in the semi-final and were broken just once.

Routliffe's winning run couldn't continue in the mixed doubles when she and compatriot Michael Venus lost 7-6 6-3 to Poland's Jan Zielinski and Chinese Taipei's Hsieh Su-Wei.

Venus also exited in the semi-finals of the men's doubles on Friday, having enjoyed a strong run with British partner Neil Skupski.
