Black Caps centurion Lou Vincent has finally received recognition for the playing milestone nearly two decades after playing his 100th one day international for New Zealand.
At a private function in Auckland recently, he was presented with his official centurion cap by New Zealand Cricket great Sir Richard Hadlee.
Vincent played 102 ODI's, 23 tests and 9 T20's for New Zealand with his last international match being in 2007.
Former Black Cap Martin Snedden and NZ Cricket chief executive David White were also at the function.
In 2014, Vincent received a life ban from the sport for match fixing. That ban was overturned last year.
In a social media post, Vincent expressed his appreciation of New Zealand Cricket's presentation.
"Like all of us, life throws a few curve balls but it shows the importance of community and the right friends we trust in to wiggle our way through and be thankful what we have learnt," he said.
"Hats off NZC for hanging onto this cap for 15 years and waiting for the perfect time to pass it on. For me the night was to say thanks to each and everyone in the room for their part in getting me to a simple peaceful place I'm living now."
