The Northern Brave women and the Canterbury Kings confirmed their places in the Super Smash T20 play-offs after no play was possible on the final day of the regular season in Wellington.

The no result at the Basin Reserve against the Wellington Blaze meant the Brave grabbed third in the women's competition and those two teams will meet again in the elimination final at the Basin on Saturday.

The abandoned game between Wellington Firebirds and Northern meant Canterbury grabbed third spot in the men's competition and they will play Northern in their elimination final.

No play meant the Wellington Firebirds lost any chance of making the top three.

It was a come from behind run by the Canterbury Kings to make the top three. They won four of their last six games and had two no-results.

The Kings have been runner-up for the title for the past four seasons and haven't won the title since the inaugural competition 19 years ago.

The Northern Brave have won the title four times, their last in 2023.

The Otago Sparks and Central Districts Stags automatically qualifed for Sunday's grand finals after finishing top of their respective standings.
