BOP stay top of Premiership

6:16 pm on 31 July 2011

Bay of Plenty have reclaimed the outright lead at the top of the Premiership after outgunning Wellington 32-nil in their ITM Cup rugby clash in Mt Maunganui.

The Steamers were too good for the hapless Lions who never looked like scoring and remain winless against the Bay since 2008.

The win was Bay of Plenty's fourth in a row and they now sit alone at the top of the standings.

In Sunday's earlier game Taranaki briefly joined the Steamers in first place after trouncing Auckland 39-11 in New Plymouth.
