    8:00 Gian-Carlo Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors was the first opera composed specifically for television. It went on to become the most performed opera EVER with over five hundred performances annually worldwide. The opera tells the story of a young crippled boy who gives his crutch to the Three Wise Men as a gift for the baby Jesus. Menotti died earlier this year at the age of 95.
