A researcher and engineer at Google Translate says technological advances in recent years are making it possible add even more languages to the online application and to improve the quality of translations for existing languages.

Last month Google Translate announced 110 new languages were being added to the app including a few from Micronesia, Polynesia and Melanesia.

Senior software engineer Isaac Caswell told RNZ Pacific's Koroi Hawkins adding more Pacific languages is something they have wanted to do for a while now.
