1:20 Ōtorohanga mayor pleads for Phillips children to be returned

As winter sets in, the Mayor of Ōtorohanga is urging Thomas Phillips to bring his children home and hand himself in.

It has been six months since Phillips took his three young children back into the bush, after sparking a massive manhunt the first time they disappeared.

Ōtorohanga is where Phillips has a home before his disappearance.

The Mayor Max Baxter talks to Anna about their plea for Phillips to return.

1:30 Wrap of Samoan language week

Talofa lava - It's Samoan Language week and in Palmerston North they're not stopping at just one week.

They've launched a six week course, that runs in the Congregational Church of Samoa hall in Westbrook.

By the end of the six weeks those who sit the course should be able to hold basic conversations in Samoan.

1:40 Badjelly the Witch to be animated in Aotearoa

A New Zealand animation company has won the rights to bring one of the most famous and dearly loved children's story to our screens, Badjelly the Witch.  

The animation company, called Mukpuddy, is one of nine successful applicants for funding under the $50 million dollar Premium Productions for International Audiences Fund.

This week's critter is one of nature's weirdest creatures.

The tongue louse (Cymothoidae species) makes its forever home inside the mouth of a hapless host fish, cutting off the tongue and replacing it with, well, itself.

The parasite is found in several different fish species in New Zealand, peering out of their mouths with beady eyes.
