1:20 Magnolia madness in Kamo cul-de-sac

Magnolia trees have been ripping up a street in Kamo, Whangarei and casuing ALL kinds of havoc.

Residents have asked the council to remove the trees have been running into roadblocks.

The Whangārei District Council discussed the issue yesterday ahead of a full council meeting on the 23rd of June to decide what to do next.

Resident Sheryl Cromie talks to Jesse about the problems they're dealing with as a result of the trees.

Beatles fans will be interested to hear that a rare collection of the band's memorabilia is going under the hammer this weekend in Auckland.

The moments are from woman who served as the Financial Controller during her tenure at Apple Corps in the UK.

That was the company set up  by the iconic rock band to oversee their business ventures.

A missing cat managed to turn his neighbours into detectives after he was reported missing.

Bruno the cat was reported by his distraught owners as missing just after Easter. It was soon after that Kate Baker noticed a cat coming to steal her own feline's meals that security cameras and traps were set.

Kate tells Jesse about the cat they dubbed Jingle Cat actually turning out to be Bruno and the efforts her family went to in order to get him back home! (Spoiler alert: it's a happy ending.)

The Manawatāwhi kaikōmako was once the world’s rarest tree – there is still only one living wild tree. The lone wild specimen grows on the remote and rugged coast of Manawatāwhi, the biggest island in the Three Kings Island group. 

Nowadays, the tree is a conservation success story – a combination of mātauranga Māori and science has helped save this taonga from the brink of extinction.
