1:20 EU trade deal includes renaming NZ cheeses

The crème de la crème of cheese makers were celebrated last night at this year's Champions of Cheese awards - but warn they now face an uncertain future.

New Zealand and the European Union have secured a trade deal, estimated to be worth 1.8 billion annually to New Zealand once it's fully rolled out by 2035.

However, the deal includes the ability to restrict cheese names in the future.

It's something artisan cheesemakers have previously expressed grave concerns about on this show.

Charlotte talks to New Zealand Specialist Cheesemakers Association board member, Daniel Shields of Barry's Bay Cheese's.

3:35 Critter of the Week: The Hairy Kelp Fly

This week’s critter loves stinky seaweed - the rottener, the better! The hairy kelp fly (Chaetocoelopa littoralis) feeds, mates, and breeds in the wrack zone of our beaches, putting up with harsh wind, rain, and sun.

They don’t mind the cold and can be found rollicking on any respectable clump of rotting seaweed throughout the year.
