Deciding what to save, and what to throw away from a flood damaged home is an emotional task.

A photographer in Hawke's Bay has been helping her friends and neighbours clean up their homes.

Eva Bradley was drawn to the piles of soggy photographs and set out to see what could be done.

She lives with her family by the beach at Bay View - that's in Hawke's Bay, her two boys go to Esk Valley school

She has some tips on saving soggy photographs, yes they can be salvaged.

RNZ's reporters have been out and about with locals as they pick up the pieces in the wake of cyclone Gabrielle.

Earlier this week, RNZ's Phil Pennington caught up with 75 year old Keith Gore and his mates as they picked through the ruins of his house in Pakowhai, a small settlement between Napier and Hastings which was badly affected by flooding.

Six potential galaxies that shouldn't exist have been found in images captured by the James Webb Space Telescope.

It's the work of an international team of astrophysicists.

Erica Nelson, professor of astrophysics at university of Colorado in Boulder. She talks to Jesse about the amazing discovery.

1:45 Charlotte Yates at Hamilton Arts Festival

Charlotte Yates has a very special performance this weekend at the Hamilton Arts Festival.

She'll be performing her Katherine Mansfield show in the Mansfield Garden of the Hamilton Gardens. It's based on her concept album, Mansfield which was released on February 20th.

As well as Hamilton there will be shows in Wellington and Auckland later this year.

It's a timely show as 2023 marks the centenary of the writer's  death.
