1:25 Student Volunteer Army decend on the Catlins

This time last week residents in Dunedin and Southland were dealing with torrential rain which wreaked havoc on the region. Hundreds of people had to evacuate, fifty houses were red stickered, and a long clean up lies ahead.

A bright spot for residents though, has been the help of the Student Volunteer Army, who've been out and about
all week. Tomorrow, about 50 members are giving up their Saturday to help clean up a farm in the Catlins.

Otago Student Volunteer Army president Paige Bowman will be there and chats with Jesse.

1:35 The people who made the inside of police cars

We're used to seeing police vehicles around our neighborhoods - but how much thought do we give to what's inside them? Jesse talks with the people who customise every single one of NZ's patrol cars, and all of the more specialised police rigs, trucks and vans.

It all happens in Hamilton. Jesse talks to the Wade Group's Alyssa Wade and the head of its emergency vehicle division Neil Robinson.

3:35 Critter of the Week: Kikipounamu | Common Garden katydid

This week’s critter is common in home gardens. The kikipounamu or common garden katydid, Caedicia simplex, looks a bit like a leaf – they have a bright green body, long spindly legs and wings that mimic the veins of leaves.
