1:15 How to go dark sky
A couple of months ago the wider Kaikoura district became New Zealand's newest Dark Sky Sanctuary.
These are areas recognised for their low light pollution, giving a clear view of their starry night sky that is protected for its scientific and cultural value.
This is exciting news for Kaikoura, but it does mean the district will have to make some changes, particularly around artificial lighting.

EDANZ says labelling on food packacing can have negative impacts for those living with eating disorders.

1:35 Old greyhounds deserve a great retirement
Greyhounds As Pets is a charity organisation dedicated to finding homes for retired racing greyhounds.
They've been operating for 18 years and at this point they've found homes for more than 4000 dogs.
This Sunday they're hosting their first ever adoption day event in Wellington.
They'll be at Boom Rock Dogs' 'Fox Cottage' in Ohariu Valley from 10am. Simultaneously another event will be held in Auckland at The Dogs Den in Silverdale.
Dawn Glover is the events and volunteer coordinator for Greyhounds as Pets, and a greyhound adoptee herself.

Is it a bird or a bug? The answer is neither! Ladybirds or ladybugs are beautiful beetles that are a great help in the garden, where they can eat up to 100 aphids per day.
This week’s critter is the pāpapa kōpure or orange-spotted ladybird (Coccinella leonina), an endemic species with a glossy black body and bright orange spots.
Ladybirds are beloved creatures. Since the Middle Ages, they have been associated with the Virgin Mary, and many people still believe they bring good luck.
