A Waikato gang has come out strongly against proposed changes to guns laws, calling them racist, undemocratic and poorly thought out.
In what was a first, the Waikato Mongrel Mob Kingdom has made a submission to a parliamentary select committee.
If passed, the revised Arms Act would among other things, introduce a firearms register, to monitor and track every firearm legally held in New Zealand.
It would also give police the power to keep those they deem high-risk away from guns.
Waikato Mongrel Mob Kingdom spokesperson, Louise Hutchinson says the proposed law is a knee-jerk reaction to a problem that should have been addressed many years ago.
