An historic appeal into sexual abuse convictions for the former creche worker Peter Ellis has begun today in the country's highest court.
Ellis, who died two years ago, is appealing 13 counts of sex abuse for which he was convicted of in 1993.
The appeal was allowed after the Supreme Court agreed with his legal team that mana - or reputation - lasted after a person died, and his case should still be heard.
It is the first time an appeal for a dead person has been heard. Emma Hatton was there.
