Crown prosecuters fail to reflect the make up of NZ communities

From Morning Report, 8:23 am on 6 October 2021

Many of the private law firms with warrants to prosecute serious crimes for the Crown are failing to reflect the diversity of the regions they serve - despite that being a condition of their lucrative contracts with Crown Law.

Crown Solicitor firms in Christchurch, Gisborne and Whanganui have no Maori Crown prosecutors at all - and few of the firms outside Auckland have more than one. Guyon Espiner has been looking at the Crown Solicitor Network as part of the the RNZ Indepth team's series, 'Is This Justice?'.

He spoke to Morning Report's Kim Hill.
