9:25 Jazz pianist Jonathan Crayford on his life of music, travel and where he calls home

With his work spanning many different genres, disciplines and regional styles, Jonathan Crayford is considered one of New Zealand's foremost jazz pianists.

He was born in a musical family, he's been playing piano since the age of 3, and it's taken him all around the world, from Paris to New York, working with some of the biggest and brightest musicians in the jazz galaxy. 

This Saturday he'll be performing in Wellington as part of the Wellington Jazz Festival, playing tunes from New York's Lower East Side underground Afro-Cuban band Mambo Macoco, which he held residency with in the 1990s.

10:17 Where to now for the Wellington City Council?

Storm clouds are gathering over Wellington City Council, with the local government minister announcing he is taking advice on whether to intervene.

Last Thursday, the Council failed to get an important airport shares sale over the line, meaning it will have to go and revise its long-term plan.

The 2022 council term has been marred by division and has been called a "shambles" by finance minister Nicola Willis.

Simeon Brown says he is seeking official advice on what action should be taken.

10:30 Juggler Mike Twist on his life as an international performer

Mike Twist is believed to be New Zealand's oldest performing professional juggler, has an unofficial world record for the most juggling performances in a week and has worked all over the world, including for the world-famous Cirque du Soleil.

And to top it off, he was the longest serving juggler at Auckland's Rainbows End.

10:45 New book shines light on renting struggles

Tracy Rosenthal is the co-author of a new book, Abolish Rent: How Tenants Can End The Housing Crisis.

They are one of the founding members of the Los Angeles Tenants Union, one of the largest tenants union in the United States, and they share some of the renting horror stories they've encountered.

Abolish Rent takes aim at one of the foremost engines of inequality and injustice.
