Dame Judith Potter became the first woman president of a District Law Society - Auckland - in 1988 and the first woman President of the New Zealand Law Society in 1991. She was appointed to the High Court bench in 1997 and served the judiciary for 15 years. In her time as a High Court Judge she presided over many high-profile court cases including the murder trial of Clayton Weatherston, the murder of toddler Nia Glassie; the trial of Antonie Dixon and the RSA murders by William Bell. Dame Judith retired from the High Court in 2012 and talks to Wallace for our series: Influential Kiwis talk about their Influences.
