Seven people have been rescued by police after a boat caught on fire in Auckland this evening.
Emergency services were notified that a boat was on fire in Ōneroa Bay at Waiheke Island just before 6pm.
Fire and Emergency crews used the Maritime Unit boats to access the vessel and extinguish the blaze.
A police spokesperson said all seven occupants were safely removed from the boat, with some suffering from smoke inhalation.
An investigation was underway for the cause of the fire.
