Gold, gold, gold.

New Zealand now has nine Olympic gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, breaking the record of eight set at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

It comes after a thrilling night of Olympic action in which Dame Lisa Carrington won her third gold medal of these Games, in the K1 500m, future dame Lydia Ko won the women's golf tournament, and Hamish Kerr won the men's high jump.

Carrington is now tied with Usain Bolt and several other athletes in eighth all time with eight Olympic gold medals.

Three men stand arm in arm each with their medals around their necks. The silver and bronze winners have them in their mouths.
