    Aerophones, Idiophones and Electrophones: Organs of a Different Kind

    William Dart looks at the extraordinary variety and diversity of instruments which, in some way or another, are related to the grandest of pipe organs. Music includes the fairground sonorities of the calliope, harnessed in the concert pieces of Eldon Rathburn and German accordionist Stefan Hussong charting the contemplative meeting of eighteenth-century hymn writer William Billings and the twentieth-century's most distinguished musicien provocateur, John Cage. Featured Concerto of the Day is Astor Piazzolla's 1979 Concerto for bandoneón (RNZ)
