Synthony 2025: What they were wearing
Heavy black clouds hinting at rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of attendees at this year’s Synthony music festival in Auckland.
Some 40,000 people of all ages hit up the sold-out orchestral dance event, which was headlined by the English electronic music duo Basement Jaxx.

Elliot Crofskely (32), Rhiannon King (27), Miya Tor (27) and Terry Elleray (33) were attending Synthony for the first time and dressed for the summer vibes. Elliot said he wasn’t ready for summer to end.

Helen (44) and Harry (60) popped over from Waiheke, while Mel and Jarrod Martin came all the way for Napier for the festival. They were aiming to dress with a bit of vibrancy to match the event – but Harry says he missed the memo.

Geraldine (47) and Eden (12) took advantage of free tickets from friends to make this Eden’s first proper concert.

Toni O’Sullivan (63) and Paul Lovejoy (64) from Ohope had snagged top seats to watch the acts. They were up in Auckland for a wedding and most of the wedding party was planning to be at Synthony – a way of extending the celebrations.
Toni says the kids did Synthony last year and recommended it.

Craig (Scotty) Scott(57), Fiona Scott (54), Sue (53) and Rowan (53) were keen to catch Basement Jaxx. This is their third Synthony and they came all the way from New Plymouth for the festival. Their outfits are mainly from op shops, with lighting sewn in to really bring the flash once the sun goes down.

This is the first Synthony for Marggie Pascua (29) and John Varona (28) from Auckland and they're looking forward to Darude.
Stephen, Frieda Lee and Alan Brown

Frieda Lee (59), Stephen (65) and Alan Brown (76) are Synthony veterans. This is Frieda’s third and Alan’s fourth, while Stephen has been to many, even travelling to New Plymouth when it was held there.
