In New Zealand, around one in eight adults have osteoarthritis, but it's a rapidly worsening problem. The condition, which mainly impacts the hips and knees, is becoming increasingly common due to many factors - including our escalating rates of obesity.
Professor Haxby Abbott, Director of the Centre for Musculoskeletal Outcomes Research at Otago University, says it's a stark problem for a healthcare system that is already struggling to meet demand. He joins the show to discuss what can be done to help those suffering from osteoarthritis.
