Dunstan High School has its first Olympic gold medallist in kayak cross champion Finn Butcher.

Butcher stunned the field in the final with an exceptional start, and he never gave up the lead.

He won New Zealand's third gold medal of the Games.

Soon after the women's team sprint of Rebecca Petch, Shaane Fulton and Ellesse Andrews won silver at the velodrome.

They briefly held the World Record in qualifying for the final, but Great Britain snatched the World Record in the final to win gold.
