The core of the Flying Fijians team that lost against France has been retained as they get another chance to strengthen their game plan when they meet England at Twickenham, London on Saturday night local time.

Head coach Simon Raiwalui has also made some positional changes to his lineup that played in Nantes last weekend.

And Manu Samoa have handed former All Black Lima Sopoaga the chance to play his first Test for his country of origin against world number one Ireland in Bayonne on Saturday night local time.

Sopoaga, who played his first game for Samoa last weekend against the Barbarians, gets to run on at No.10 ahead of former Wallaby Christian Le'alifano again.

Fijians look to consistency

With a focus on consistency and building his combinations before the opening Rugby World Cup pool match against Wales in Bordeaux on September 10, Raiwalui has made mainly positional changes.

Co-captains Waisea Nayacalevu and Semi Radradra will, for the first time, pair up in the midfield.

Radradra led against France while Nayacalevu was rested.

Raiwalui said this was something they had been working on since their first Test this year against Tonga in July.

"We have been rotating players and testing combinations so this is the right time to test these two experienced players this weekend," he said.

"They are leaders in the team and also role models to our players and I'm confident that they will form the best combination on the day."

Raiwalui expects it to be tough upfront.

"It's another big physical battle and I think they will try and use their pack to the limit. We have been working on ours and I think they will be very tactical with their kicking. It is going to be a different challenge this weekend," he said.

In expectation of that, Raiwalui has retained Eroni Mawi and Luke Tagi at props, Isoa Nasilasila and Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta at locks, while bringing in Lekima Tagitagivalu to pair Albert Tuisue on the flanks.

Viliame Mata, who has impressed at No.8, retains his spot while Sam Matavesi starts after coming off the bench against France last week.

Matavesi, who was honoured this week by the Royal Navy in a 'battlefield promotion' to the rank of Local Acting Leading Hand, will be a key player in the lineout and scrum battles.

His precision in throw-ins to the lineout will be relied upon by the Fijians.

It was an area that Fiji struggled in earlier against France last week.

Although he had a mixed game against France last weekend, Frank Lomani gets the No.9 jersey again and will pair Caleb Muntz, who has improved in every game he has played.

Raiwalui said they are playing a quality team and they are looking forward to playing in front of a big crowd and hope for a good performance.

Manu Samoa focus on discipline

The Manu Samoans will be led by co-captain Chris Vui this weekend against Ireland.

Vui will run in at locks and is expected to keep an eye out for discipline from his teammates.

It's an area that head coach Seilala Mapusua is focusing on in the wake of displinary actions taken against some players in recent weeks.

"It is equally important our boys stay disciplined and show good tackle technique in their final warmup before the Rugby World Cup," Mapusua told Manoa Samoa media.

"We cannot afford to have any players suspended or banned on the eve of the tournament given recent incidents involving players such as Owen Farrell, Billy Vunipola and George Moala."

England's Farrell and Vunipola have been suspended for red card penalties and will miss two matches at least while Moala will miss three of Tonga's pool matches at the World Cup.

Mapusua has named Lima Sopoaga at flyhalf and handed him the kicking duties again, following an impressive first outing for Samoa against the Barbarians last week.

He has also retained the core of his team that had played the Pacific Nations Cup series and against the Barbarians last week.

Former All Black Steven Luatua continues at No.8 and will have Fritz Lee and Taleni Sey as his pairing as flankers.

Moana Pasifika flanker Miracle Failangi has been named on the bench alongside co-captain Michael Ala'alatoa.
